¿Qué paso en Lima?

Bonj, here is a little update.

Fingers crossed we will be out of the "Flying Dog" hostel by the end of this week with the latest project developments: with Ruth we found a great couple of project options and we are both very keen to go and get going with work again. The first was not quite right but the second one is a large boys home (about 300) run by monks in San Juan distrito of Lima, about 40 mins by bus from Miraflores. It looks really good with workshops like carpentry and shoe-making for the boys, it´s own on-site school and 2 French volunteers currently working there. PT are having a discussion tomorrow and will ring us. We have one more project to look at, tomorrow, which is about 3 hours North-East out of town with 116 children. It cares for girls as well as boys.

This weekend Tanya and I went to the Plaza de Armas in Lima Centro and there happened to be a military parade. I think it was the navy as they had lots of shiny gold buttons, but they actually looked like they were dancing, throwing up their bayonets like majorettes! They were in perfect formation with fancy footwork, pointed hands and marching lines that crossed. The Peruvians were wooping and clapping them on while a brass band led the circuits. Afterwards we browsed some busy retail streets - again, very Spanish with their green and yellow painted colonial façades and sunny white-framed windows. There was even a supermarket in one of the poshest buildings I have seen yet here! We have now been in quite a few of the distritos (San Isidro, Miraflores, Pueblo Libre, San Juan de Miraflores, Lima Centro and Callao) and are really getting to grips with the city. Next, Barranco. There are some really beautiful parts outside of Miraflores, such as the Parque de los Exposiciones which has a small circus, a million flowers, a pavillion and could actually be Spain. The weather is amazing, mainly blue skies and heat with the odd day of Pacific mist that glides through the city. It feels like you are looking through foggy glasses. We saw the Arsenal - Barcelona match at a sports bar, Tanya must have beem one of the three only Arsenal fans!

We are at the Chamber right now, so back to the Spanish grammar online-exercises on the Personal "A",
